Beaufort County Community College offers a wide range of training solutions to meet the requirements of law enforcement agencies. In-Service Law Enforcement Training is provided to local law enforcement agencies. Courses are especially designed as in-service training for those engaged in law enforcement activities.

BCCC offers an outdoor Qualifications Firearms Range with a range tower and a turning target system, a Milo Range Indoor Firearms Simulator with reality-based simulations, patrol cars for defensive driving training, and a 500’ x 600’ pad with a 400’ x 40’ pursuit lane and stadium lighting to enable nighttime training.

IN-SERVICE TRAINING

BCCC can offer continuing education courses focusing on mandatory and specialized training topics. Classes are held on the BCCC campus or onsite at the agency. Training Coordinators interested in signing up their agency should contact the Director of Law Enforcement Training at 252-940-6405 to schedule classes.

BLET TRAINING

Learn the essential skills required for entry level employment as law enforcement officers with state, county, or municipal governments, or with a private enterprise. Areas of study include criminal law, juvenile law, civil process, traffic crash investigations, alcoholic beverage laws, investigative, patrol, custody and court procedures, emergency responses, ethics, and community relations. Students successfully completing a Basic Law Enforcement Training course accredited by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission and the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Education and Training Standards Commission will receive credit for up to 19 credit hours towards the Associate in Applied Science degree in Criminal Justice Technology.

Prerequisite requirements: High School Diploma/Equivalency, 20+ years of age, no major misdemeanors or felony convictions, a passing score on the CASAS reading exam, and a physician’s certification of fitness completed by an NC doctor. Sponsorship by a North Carolina Law Enforcement Agency is required to waive the registration fee. Costs of the program include a $191.25 registration fee, textbook bundle $650 (estimated), uniforms $150 (estimated). Our next full-time day program will be announced soon. Classes meet Mondays-Fridays from 8 am - 5 pm. Some evenings and Saturday sessions are required.

TECHNICAL STANDARDS
In compliance with the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act, the following standards have been established. All students in the programs below are expected to meet certain essential technical standards for successfully completing all program phases and reflect industry requirements and standards. To verify the student's ability to perform these essential functions, students may be required to demonstrate the technical standards.

COST OF CLASSES

The cost for in-service training courses is FREE for sworn law enforcement officers affiliated with a North Carolina Agency, otherwise you will be required to pay the designated registration fee based on the total hours of the class.

NORTH CAROLINA CRIMINAL JUSTICE FELLOWS PROGRAM

The North Carolina Criminal Justice Fellows Program is open to high school seniors and graduates seeking an Associate in App[lied Science in Criminal Justice or other Committee approved related field of study. Applicants may reside in any county in North Carolina but should intend to enter an eligible criminal justice profession in an eligible North Carolina county. The Fellowship program offers a 100% forgivable loan valued up to $6,304.00 towards college tuition, college fees, college textbooks, and other required supplies.
