Book Publishing, Business Expo and Women Working Together

How to Publish Your Book Now Participants who have dreamed of publishing a book can learn how. Author and business owner, L. Diane Wolfe, walks students through the steps, from creating a marketable product to distribution. All of the options available will be outlined, including the incredible potential of the Internet, as a source and platform for your work. Anyone serious about writing is encouraged to attend this lively seminar. This seminar will cover writing, traditional publishing, publisher facts, using a POD publisher, forming a publishing company, self-publishing set-up, formatting a book, printers and distribution. It will take place on Thursday, September 21 at 6:00 p.m.

Financing Your Business Brian Cooke will help participants take their business plans and dreams and make them a reality by tackling financing. Students will learn how to finance a business, and who to seek out for good, solid and reliable advice. They will learn about loans and grants that can assist them. This seminar will take place Monday, September 25 at 6:00 p.m.

2017 Business Expo Workshops During the Business Expo, participants can attend two seminars. At noon, Steve Fromme, Better Business Bureau Educational Foundation executive director, and Claire Abshire, Better Business Bureau community outreach specialist, will present “Scambusters– Bust… or Go Bust!” Scambusters is a game designed to introduce current and prospective business owners to the variety and danger of scams to which they will more than likely be exposed. Participants learn to differentiate between legitimate and fraudulent offerings. The game, developed by the Better Business Bureau Educational Foundation of Eastern NC, deals in a fun manner with the serious subject of being scammed and the subsequent consequences.

At 1:00 p.m. lawyer Will Mayo will present “Legal Tips 101— What Do I Need to Know for My Business?” The Business Expo will take place in the Multi-Purpose Room of Building 10 from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. on September 27.

How Women Can Work Together More Effectively Women who are tired of misunderstandings, other women’s complaints and people taking credit for their hard work can find out why different rules can exist in an all-female work environment. Emily Ballance will teach how to communicate more clearly and confidently to resolve conflicts before they escalate. By the end of the seminar, participants will leave with new ideas to help reduce stress, have more fun and strengthen their work team. It will take place on Thursday, September 28 at 2:00 p.m.
