Students Receive Scholarships from BCCC Foundation

The Beaufort County Community College Foundation is proud to announce the following scholarship recipients. The BCCC Foundation anticipates awarding $150,000 in scholarships during the 2018-2019 academic year. On October 25, the foundation will hold an auction and concert featuring the Embers to continue funding such scholarships. Nicholas Blackford, 19, received the Washington Rotary Scholarship. Blackford is working toward an Associate in Arts, and he is a resident of Washington. He currently works doing maintenance for Tranters Creek Resort. The homeschooled student plans to get a bachelor’s degree in computer science.

Brooke Bonds, 18, received the Tayloe Memorial Fund Scholarship. Bonds is the daughter of Noah Bonds of Williamston and Fran Peele of Williamston. The Williamston resident is part of the nursing program, and she attended Bear Grass Charter School. She currently works as a busser at Ribeyes in Williamston.

Victoria Clark, 18, received the Bill Pruitt/St. Thomas Episcopal Church Scholarship. Clark is the daughter of Diann Baldwin and Eric Baldwin. The Chocowinity resident is part of the cosmetology program, and she attended Southside High School.

Kyle Clodfelter, 21, received the Louise Lester Foundation Scholarship. Clodfelter is part of the electrical engineering technology program. Son of Freddy and Lynn Clodfelter of Plymouth, he hopes to work in the electrical field. The Plymouth resident attended Northside High School.

Mackenzie Jackson, 18, received the Thomas E. Minges Memorial/Pepsi Scholarship. Jackson is the daughter of Christina and Stephen Jackson of Greenville. She is part of the Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nurses (RIBN) program, and she attended D.H. Conley High School. The Greenville resident plans to work in pediatric nursing. She currently works at Vidant Medical Center Gift Shops/Service League of Greenville as a customer service representative/cashier.

Ryan Kolibabek, 18, received the American Red Cross and the Robert Farish Scholarships. Kolibabek is the son of Joseph Kolibabek and Angie Kolibabek of Chocowinity. He is part of the Associate in Arts program, and he attended Unity Christian Academy. The Chocowinity resident plans to work in business administration.

Brandon Ussery, 26, received the Louise Lester Foundation Scholarship. Ussery is the son of Louie and Susan Ussery of Pantego and the husband of Amanda Ussery. He is part of the mechanical engineering technology program, and he attended Northside High School. The Pantego resident plans to transfer to East Carolina University to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology. He currently works at Hyster-Yale Materials Handling Group as a senior lab technician.

Haley Whitener, 25, received the WoodmenLife 623 Scholarship. Whitener is the daughter of Jacky and Chris Carson of Columbia and the wife of Travis Whitener. She is part of the Associate Degree in Nursing program, and she attended First Flight High School. She plans to work as a registered nurse and obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Carolina University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science from Meredith College.
