Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
Microsoft Office Applications are essential at home, at work, and at church. In this 5-week course we will strengthen skills in three of the Office Applications. We will practice creating, editing, saving, and sharing MS Word documents. Powerpoint presentations will become more lively and engaging with the techniques you will learn in class. And we will spend three sessions exploring all of the functions in Excel. Learning to create and manage spreadsheets will help
you become a better data manager. Our instructor, Kisha Norman, is eager to share her expertise with you.

MIG, SMAW, & TIG Welding for Employment
This hands-on class will introduce students to the Metal Inert Gas (MIG), Arc (SMAW), and Tungsten Insert Gas (TIG) welding techniques. Various topics regarding these processes will be taught to prepare students to weld at industry standards. Funding assistance may be available through your local NCWorks Center (formerly known as Job-Link). For more information and an eligibility assessment, please contact your local NCWorks Center. The course fee includes a $125.00 registration fee and $1.25 accident insurance fee. A welding kit list is available upon demand. Kits typically costs around $225 from ARC3 Gases and will be needed for the class. Kit lists are available at Hyde County Davis Center. Substance Abuse Counselor
Are you interested in earning your NC Substance Abuse Counseling Certification? Take your first step with our Substance Abuse Counseling program! This online course taught via Blackboard will take you on an journey learning about screening, intake, orientation, assessment, treatment planning, counseling, case management, crisis intervention, client education, report and record keeping, consultation with other professionals in regard to client treatment and services, and referral to treat addictive disorder or disease and help prevent relapse. This program has been approved by the NCSAPPB board (code 16-100-H-S). There will be some additional requirements to become a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor such as supervision and clinical experience. Students will be responsible for completing this requirement. For more information on the state requirement to become a CSAC, go to Beverly Cates and Loretta Ebison will be the instructors for this program. The course fee includes a $180 registration fee and $5 technology fee. The $185.00 fee for this program does not include any fees required by the NCSAPPB towards the individual’s certification. Books for the course are available at the BCCC bookstore (book
prices subject to change). Students will need to provide, at a minimum, an official high school transcript.
