Cake Decorating in Washington County

Beaufort County Community College has an upcoming class at the Washington County Center in Roper to help participants learn new techniques for the kitchen. The center also has ongoing Adult Basic Education and High School Equivalency classes. Call 252-940-6375 to register.

Cake Decorating

This year, springtime baking will be so much more inviting when participants learn to decorate cakes, cupcakes, and cookies from Maria Dickinson. In BCCC’s Cake Decorating I, they will learn to decorate cakes that will delight family and friends. Participants will learn to master elegant borders using shells, rosettes, and stars, along with lovely flowers such as roses, rosebuds, sweet peas, and pansies. They can take this class and enjoy decorating a beautiful cake for every special event. On the first evening the class will supply participants with three tips, couplers, and piping bags (all theirs to keep) so they can experience the pleasure of cake decorating. The instructor will help develop a supply list to match their goals. Participants can register and pay online for the $60 class. It starts on February 6, and takes place on Thursdays from 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

Adult Basic Education and High School Equivalency

The Adult Basic Education (ABE) program supports the development of reading comprehension, mathematical reasoning and computation, and language and writing skills at pre-high school levels. This is designed to lay the foundation for those students who will go on to seek a high school equivalency credential.

The High School Equivalency (HSE) Preparation program offers instruction in all areas relevant to official high school equivalency credential tests. Classes have been aligned to the common core standards adopted by the state of North Carolina. Instruction for College and Career Readiness programs is available at all Beaufort County Community College campuses. HSE prepares students to take either Pearson Vue’s GED or ETS HiSet exams. These classes take place from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Mondays through Wednesdays. They are free of charge.
