Students accept the challenge for Black History Month

To celebrate Black History Month, TRIO/Student Support Services gave all Beaufort County Community College students the opportunity to participate in the 2020 STAR Black History Quiz Challenge. Interested students completed and returned the quiz challenge questionnaire for a chance to win a $25.00, $15.00, or a $10.00 gift card.

On February 27, all students were invited to attend a celebration to reveal the answers and select the gift card winners of the 2020 STAR Black History Quiz Challenge. Congratulations to the following winners:

1st prize, $25.00 gift card: Keyosha Evans

2nd prize, $15.00 gift card: Shondra Hardy

3rd prize, $10.00 BCCC College Grill gift card: Justin Carawan

More than 60 BCCC students accepted the challenge and completed the questionnaire this year. Questions covered a variety of topics ranging from politics to sports. Tashawna Scott, TRIO Student Development Coordinator, expressed, “I was pleasantly surprised by the enthusiasm of the students. As students returned the questionnaire, there were times of friendly debate and discussion about possible answers to some of the questions.”

TRIO/Student Support Services thanks these students who served as program participants and assistants: Jamison Bennett, Destiny Campbell, MiQuan Colbert, Desaray Cruz, Keyosha Evans, Chance Price, Ashley Scherer, Iesha Smallwood, Roxanne Tate, and Matthew White. Thanks is also extended to Ms. Ann Hill of the BCCC College Grill for her support.
