TRIO/Student Support Services students end semester with 'A Christmas Carol'

Students from Beaufort County Community College’s TRIO program attended Ira David Wood III’s beloved musical comedy A Christmas Carol at the Durham Performing Arts Center on December 16. This humorous takeoff of Charles Dickens’s classic novel has been performed annually since 1974 and has been named one of the “Top 20 Events in the Southeast”.

TRIO students in attendance shared that they enjoyed the humor and the fact that this year’s show included updated references to the pandemic and other current events. Students were entertained by the topical humor and musical selections as Ebenezer Scrooge struggled to understand goodwill and redemption.

The TRIO/Student Support Services program is open to first-generation college students, students who are from families experiencing poverty, or students who have a documented disability. Students get free access to printing, technology help, campus tours to universities, cultural events, help with university applications, and tutoring.

The program is currently accepting new students. Apply in person in at the TRIO Success Center in Room 120, Building 1.
