Nurse Aide Classes at the WCC

The following classes are available at the Washington County Center in Roper through the Continuing Education Department at BCCC. To register, call 252-940-6375 or email [email protected]. Nurse Aide I and II Beaufort County Community College will offer Nurse Aide I and Nurse Aide II training at the Washington County Center beginning January 2018. Nurse Aide I will begin January 9, with classes running from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and every other Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Nurse Aide II begins on January 8, running from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and every other Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Nurse Aide I requires that students must hold a silver Career Readiness Certificate. Students can earn this certificate on the BCCC main campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00-4:30 p.m. or at the Roper center on Tuesday from 6:00-9:00p.m.

Graduates of the program can provide personal care and perform basic nursing skills for elderly adults. Although it is strongly encouraged, a high school diploma or GED is not required for entry into the Nurse Aide I program. Upon completion of the course, the candidate is eligible to apply for the NC State Certification Examination. Nationally, the average salary of a certified nurse aide is $23,000. As the average age of the population has increased, the need for nurse aides has grown and will continue to grow. Nurse aide positions are also perfect for people considering a career as a registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse.
