High School Students “Test Drive” BCCC
Beaufort County Community College hosted 90 seniors and juniors from area high schools to give students a feel for college classes. On March 27, the students had a chance to “test drive” classes and enjoy other activities during BCCC’s Spring Fling, activities put on by the Student Government Association. Participating high schools included Mattamuskeet Early College High School; Pungo, Terra Ceia and Unity Christian Academies and Creswell, Northside, Southside and Washington High Schools.
While on campus, students attended two classes from 18 different programs, such as medical lab technology, cosmetology, college transfer programs and automotive technology. They got to experience an average day for a college student, with many of the students seeing the campus for the first time. Spring Fling activities included large video games, a selfie station and a chance to create personalized street signs. Men of Success, the college's minority male mentoring program, cooked up hot dogs for the students. The college raffled off an ENO hammock and other merchandise.
