Business Law, Disaster Loans at Beaufort County Business Expo

The business climate is rapidly changing. Owners must keep up with technologies to stay ahead and, in 2018, Hurricane Florence dumped even larger problems on local businesses. Owners can learn tips and trade experiences at the 2018 Beaufort County Business Expo. The Washington-Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce and Beaufort County Community College’s Small Business Center are putting on three free seminars on October 9 from 11:00 a.m-2:00 p.m. in Building 10 on the BCCC campus. With more than 30 exhibitors attending, the expo will be a great place for established and upcoming local businesses to network.

During the Business Expo, participants can attend three seminars. At noon, Holly Harrison will present “QR Codes and Your Business”. Many large corporations use QR codes, but it is quickly becoming a trend with small business entrepreneurs. With these codes, business owners and customers can send or receive contact information, coupons or discounts and links to web pages. Customers can easily engage with these cost-effective and efficient tools using their smart phones.

At 1:00 p.m. lawyer Will Mayo will present “Legal Tips 101— What Do I Need to Know for My Business?” Finally, at 2:00 p.m., the Small Business and Technology Development Center will present a Hurricane Florence disaster relief question and answer session for business owners. Small business owners may qualify for Rapid Recovery Loans, SBA Business Physical Disaster loans and disaster unemployment insurance to help their business recover in the aftermath of the storm.

“We’re excited to continue our collaboration with the Washington/Beaufort Chamber of Commerce,” said Lentz Stowe, director of the Small Business Center at BCCC. “We added this Q&A about disaster relief in response to the need of local businesses after the storm. The SBTC is really a first responder for businesses when it comes to disaster relief. They got their start in the aftermath of Hurricane Floyd, so they will be a great resource of our business owners.”

The Business Expo will take place in the Multi-Purpose Room of Building 10 from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. on October 9. Pre-registration is recommended for the seminars. Participants can call 252-940-3675 or email [email protected].
