Google Design, Hair & Makeup & Shag Dancing for Kids & Teens

We have summer programs on our main campus for kids and teens so they can make new friends, stay active, and explore new hobbies and careers. You can sign up online for all of these classes or call 252-940-6375 to register. Scholarships are available for qualifying children.

Makeup, Hair, and Nails (rising 6th to 8th grade)

Join instructors from BCCC’s cosmetology program to get the best advice for teen esthetics. Keep your skin clear and fresh by using proper hygiene. Learn the right makeup skills to enhance your best features. Explore hair styling basics for busy teens. In addition, we will learn nail maintenance and reveal the best ways to apply nail polish. Each student will receive a lipstick applicator, an eye shadow applicator, mascara applicator, makeup sponge, and hairbrush. Look your best and keep your skin, hair, and nails clean and healthy. This program will take place 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. July 9-16, and it costs $35.

Google Game Design (ages 8 to 13)

Join this class and learn how to program various types of digital games using the Google Computer Science First® and Scratch® interfaces. Mothers and fathers may not understand this, but your kids do! Game styles include racing, mazes, platform, strategy, and others. Learn how games like Super Mario, Angry Birds, Candy Crush, and Flappy Bird were created. It is fun and interactive. Students should bring their own headphones. Two separate sessions of this program will take place from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., one from July 8-July 11 and another from July 15-July 18. One session costs $60.

Google Fashion Design (ages 8 to 13)

Fashion designers use computer designers to help create and produce the clothes we wear. Using the Google Computer Science First® and Scratch® interfaces we will explore the use of coding in fashion design. We will build fashion themed programs like a fashion walk, a stylist tool, and a pattern maker. Budding fashionistas will be glad they enrolled in this class! Please bring your own headphones. This program will take place from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. from July 15-July 18 and costs $60.

Carolina Shag Dancing (rising 7th to 9th grade)

Dances are always fun when Beach Music is playing, and the Shag is the favorite couples dance in the Carolinas. Come and learn to shag and enjoy the fellowship in our dancing classroom. It will not take long to master the basic steps and at least six fun moves. Dance etiquette will be included in the instruction. This program will take place from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. July 11-July 30 and it costs $50.

3-D Modeling and Printing (rising 7th to 12th grade)

3-D printing is the future of manufacturing, and it has many scientific and medical applications as well. Students will use computer software to create three-dimensional renderings of an object, and then they will employ geometric constraints and extrusions to modify the rendering. Finally, they will set-up and run a 3-D printer to create the object. It sounds complex, but it really is fun when Joshua Kelly, BCCC mechanical engineering instructor, leads the way. All supplies are included, and participants will carry home the object they create. This program will take place from 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. from July 23-August 1 and costs $50.
