Health sciences manager Linda West joins BCCC Board of Trustees

Linda West returns to Beaufort County Community College as its newest trustee. West earned her nursing degree through the college and most recently worked as the health sciences program manager for Washington County Schools. She was appointed to the BCCC Board of Trustees by the Washington County Commissioners. She will continue her dedication to Washington County by serving a four-year term on the BCCC Board of Trustees, expiring in 2024.

West began her three-decade career with Washington County Schools in 1991 as the health sciences education program manager and HOSA-Future Health Professionals advisor. Previously, she worked at the Washington County Hospital as a nursing supervisor and the swing bed unit coordinator.

She graduated from BCCC’s Associate Degree Nursing program and earned her teaching certification through East Carolina University.

She and her husband Kerry have two sons, Brant and Josh. Kerry works as an account manager with McNaughton-McKay of New Bern. Brant works as the technical superintendent at Fiberline Domtar in Plymouth, and Josh works as a process engineer at Kaba Ilco in Rocky Mount.

West has been heavily involved in HOSA-Future Health Professionals and has served as a HOSA advisor for Washington County Schools, being named the NC HOSA State Advisor of the Year five times. She was named the New Vocational Education Teacher of the Year in 1995. West has won Teacher of the Year three times from Washington County Schools and four times from Plymouth High School.

Our Allied Health Division and our Continuing Education healthcare programs are extremely popular. We draw students from across the region, and these careers are the future of many local communities.”

The BCCC Board of Trustees oversees Beaufort County Community College in its mission as a public, comprehensive community college that provides open-door access to university transfer, workforce development, and life-long learning programs for the people of Beaufort, Hyde, Tyrrell, and Washington Counties. The college strives to be an innovative community leader that promotes economic and social mobility through educational opportunities linked to workforce development, public service, and cultural and personal enrichment.
