First place for Soran Eagles, BCCC's Global Solutions team
Beaufort County Community College congratulates the Soran Eagles, our Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge team. The Soran Eagles placed first in their pitch on December 16 for their awareness raising project about the waste created by the arts & entertainment industry. The Kurdish-American team was advised on the BCCC side by Cynthia King, business administration professor, and headed by student Micah Guion.
The American and Kurdish team members are: Parwa Ali Mahmoud, Raboon Redar Mohammed, Ravin Musa Ad, Raya Swar, Rozheen Hikmat Anwar, Samantha Ann Knox, Zahra Kamal Anwer, Zedan Yaseen Rayman, Ziba Naif Esmail, Micah Guion, Mohamad Nadhim Dhiyab, Myia Guion, Parwa Ali Mohammed, Abdulmalik Khasro Siamand, Ayanna Davis, Casandra Sanchez, Liz O'Malia, Jamie Keel and Karzan M. Sulaiman.
Last year's team, JoSeagulls, placed second in the challenge for a gas leak detection and resolution system. This is only the second year that BCCC has put forth a team for the challenge that pairs technical college students in the United States with students in Jordan and Iraq. The project is an initiative of IREX, the United States Department of State, the Aspen Institute, and the Stevens Initiative.
