Small business & real estate classes coming up



Beaufort County Community College’s Small Business Center has online workshops coming up, and they are all free. Additionally, the college is offering affordable real estate classes for new or existing agents. Business Photography for Non-photographers

You need visuals to represent your business on your website and social media. Make sure that they’re not terrible. Local photographer Bob Mackowski will give you some basic, entry-level tips to use with any camera (yes, even your cell phone). Your business isn’t awful; make sure that your visuals don’t make it look that way. This free, online workshop will take place from 3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. on January 14.

Real Estate – Broker in Charge Update

This four-hour mandatory course satisfies the continuing education requirements required by the NC Real Estate Commission. The Broker in Charge update course is developed by the NC Real Estate commission each year. This class will take place from 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 14. The fee is $50, and it takes place in person.

How to Write a Business Plan

Starting a small business is a huge step for anyone. David Mayo will help students with the fundamentals of writing a business plan, the foundation for success when deciding to start a new business or acquire an existing business. It is key when it comes to seeking funds for a business. This free, online workshop will take place from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on January 25.

Create a Thriving Business in the Gig Economy

Part-time freelance jobs are out there. Learn how to use them to supplement your business startup plus how and where to hire freelancers to work for your business. Local photographer Bob Mackowski has been on both sides of the gig economy and he’ll teach you how to thrive on either end of the system. This free, online workshop will take place from 3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28.

Pre-License Real Estate

This 10-week course is required to satisfy the educational requirements for a provisional broker and is designed to prepare you to pass the real estate license examination administered by the NC Real Estate Commission. Topics include basic real estate principles and practices, law and contracts, financing, closing valuation, fair housing and real estate laws. Book available in campus bookstore. A Career Readiness Certificate of a silver or higher and a high school diploma or equivalency and/or a college degree required. Participants are subject to criminal background check.

One class will run from 12:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. on Tuesdays through Wednesdays from January 26 - March 30. A second class will run from 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. on Tuesdays through Wednesdays from February 16 - April 21. The fee is $180, and classes are in person.
