Crafting with the Counseling Team for Suicide Prevention Awareness

September is Suicide Prevention Month. In recognition of this important effort, the BCCC Counseling Department has planned a few activities, including:

Help a Friend Messages

Create awareness and a sense of community on our campus by submitting “Help a Friend” messages. Students and/or classes can use their creativity to share positive messages, encouraging individuals to seek help for mental health-related issues. These messages can be shared via digital posters, flyers, videos, etc. The department is accepting submissions for the entire month of September and hope to feature these submissions throughout the academic year. The link for submission can be found here: https://forms.office.com/r/L1VJePsHBx

Crafting with the Counseling Team

September 6-8, the Counseling Team will be providing a crafting experience for students, staff, and faculty. Join them in the Building 9 Student Center to paint and design kindness rocks. This is a free activity and all materials will be provided.

  • Tuesday, Sept. 6: 12:00 p.m. & 2:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 7: 9:00 a.m. & 12:00 p.m.
  • Thurs. Sept. 8: 12:00 p.m.

Suicide Prevention Silicone Bracelets and Information

At various locations on campus (adjacent to the minute meal stations), you will find Suicide Prevention silicone bracelets and Suicide Prevention information cards. Please grab a bracelet and information to have or share with a friend.

As always, if you need support or know someone who does, please contact the counseling department. Also, individuals can dial “988” 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week to access the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
