Creative Writing Club Launches Literary Publication

Write On!, Beaufort County Community College’s creative writing club, in conjunction with the English department has launched The Gully Review, a creative writing literary journal that features short stories and poetry written by BCCC students.

A literary publication has been in development for some time in the writing club, and with the enthusiasm of current faculty and student writers, that idea has become a reality.

“The publication of the first edition of The Gully Review is the beginning of a yearly project that allows our students to share their creative works and learn the process of submission for publication,” said Suzanne Stotesbury, Write On! advisor.

Members of Write On! wrote and submitted original creative works. Club members reviewed each submission and noted revisions and edits for their peers’ work. The English department assisted the students by editing and designing the publication.

The Gully Review is published online on the BCCC Lester Library’s webpage. The journal accepted submissions from Write On! for its inaugural edition. In the future editions, the editors plan to expand calls for submissions to all students on BCCC’s campus.

The journal is one of many writing activities provided by the on-campus creative writing club. Students interested in honing their creative writing skills or becoming more involved with writing activities are invited to join Write On!
