Students can take two online courses toward a CNC Machinist Certificate this summer.

Online Mechanical Engineering Classes Offered During Summer 2023

Summer courses will start on May 16, and while some are offered in person, the majority are offered online. For the first time, the college is offering two mechanical engineering technology courses, MAC-178 (CNC Turning: Operator) and MAC-179 (CNC Milling: Operator), online. These two courses count toward the CNC Machinist Certificate. This is a great opportunity for students who would like to earn this certification but need to work during the summer or want to skip the commute to campus.

During the summer semester, BCCC offers two formats for courses: 8-week or 5-week. Eight-week courses start on May 16 and end July 12. Five-week courses are offered as two "mini-mesters," with one running May 16-June 20, and the second "mini-mester" running from June 21-July 26. Five-week courses are full courses, so students should be prepared for the contents of a 16-week course condensed into a five-week timeframe. Not all courses are offered at all times and in all formats.

Students can register now in the Advising Center or with their advisor for these and many other summer courses. New students or university students taking a course for transfer should first apply for admission to the college. The Beaufort Promise Scholarship does not cover summer semesters. Students who are using financial aid or would like to apply for scholarships should have a current FAFSA on file.

For short-term training courses through the Division of Continuing Education, students can see the summer schedule.
