Lester Library Hosts Adventures in Russia and Uzbekistan

The Louise R. Lester Foundation Library at Beaufort County Community College (BCCC) will feature art professor Tom Grubb on October 11 as part of its Community Voices program. Grubb will discuss his journey through Akademgorodok, Moscow, Novosibirsk, and St. Petersburg in Russia, and Samarkand and Bukhara in Uzbekistan. This presentation is part of the Beaufort Abroad: Crossing Boundaries, Expanding Community series. The presentation takes place from 6:00-7:00 p.m.

In his lecture, Grubb will introduce the mysterious world of the Soviet Union and its transition to Russia and its many breakaway countries. Join Grubb as he recounts his journey to these exotic places and his visits to artists’ studios far away from the official control of the KGB.

An exhibition of Russian artist Alexander Lazarevich’s ceramic sculptures can be viewed only during this presentation.

The Community Voices Series serves as a bridge connecting the Community College with the community at large to build engagement and interaction between businesses and individuals by offering exposure to the library and campus faculty and staff. The Beaufort Abroad series will feature BCCC employees’ global travels in connection with the Study Abroad program which will visit Austria, Germany, and Switzerland in 2024.
