Beaufort County Early College High School Celebrates Class of 2024

The Class of 2024 at Beaufort County Early College High School celebrated their high school graduation in Washington High School’s auditorium. The dual enrollment program, housed on the campus of Beaufort County Community College (Beaufort CCC), saw 57 students presented with high school diplomas, 48 of whom also received at least one credential through Beaufort County Community College.

Students who also earned certificates or degrees through BCCC had participated in a larger ceremony with graduates from the college and other early college high school students on May 10. The graduates are headed off to four-year universities, the military and the workforce.

Graduates were recognized for different achievements at the ceremony. Those wearing gold cords had weighted high school grade point average of 4.0 or higher. Those with white cords had completed an associate’s degree.

Yenisel Bautista Hernandez, Uryel Marquez Rodriguez, and Jisselle Tellez Salas each earned three credentials: a Certificate in Community Spanish Interpreter, an Associate in Science, and an Associate in Arts.

Louis Adams, Chloie Alligood, Elizabeth Bowen, Roman Butler, Aisling Casey, Hardy Corey III, Malika Edwards, Andrew Harp, Gracie Landeck, Abigail Lugo Gonzalez, Janeth Madero, Kaylee Medrano, Rogelio Meza Zavala, Angel Uriel Resendiz, Candy Vega Gastelum, and Lauren Wallace all received both an Associate in Arts and an Associate in Science.

Crystal Tellez Pallacios earned an Associate in Science and a Certificate in Community Spanish Interpreter.

Milton Phelps Bennett, Alexander Wei Burruss, Myah Cherry, Lauren Jean Cosentino, Mckenzie Edwards, Marissa Lynn Kuers, Delaney Lewis, Aliyah McKeithan, Piper Midyette, Devon Antonio Myers, Alondra Pacheco Garcia, Nadya Pope, Jamylah Powell, Lukah Prevatt, Ashley Resendiz Contreras, Skyler Roark, Mackenzie Seymour, and Claire Stevens earned an Associate in Arts through BCCC.

Elijah Clement and Caitlin Moore earned an Associate in Science.

Macy Williams earned a Diploma in Cosmetology. Edenia Barrera, Zuleimi Juarez De La Cruz, and Allan Ramirez Jaramillo earned a Certificate in Community Spanish Interpreter. Hector Salas Hernandez and Jerry Villanueva-Ramirez earned a Certificate in Automotive System Technology: Electrical and Electronics. Owen Ximenez Duenas earned a Certificate in Welding Technology.

Nine of the graduates had unweighted high school GPAs of 3.5 or higher. The North Carolina Scholars were Chloie Alligood, Yenisel Bautista Hernandez, Elijah Clement, Andrew Harp, Gracie Landeck, Delaney Lewis, Uryel Marquez Rodriguez, Caitlin Moore, and Jisselle Tellez Salas. Gracie Landeck was the Class of 2024's valedictorian.

The Class of 2024 saw ten more students receiving credentials through Beaufort CCC than last year. Some students are only a few credits from finishing their credentials and plan to continue at Beaufort CCC in the fall.

BCCC also partners with Columbia Early College High School, Hyde Academy, and Washington County Early College High School. Qualified students from all area high schools can take free college classes through Career and College Promise, with students at Northside High School, Southside High School, and Washington High School completing associate degrees.

Early college high school students go to high school classes for their first two years, later transitioning to taking college classes just like any other college students on the Beaufort CCC campus. At the end of their five-year education, they earn a high school diploma, and most of them also earn one or more associate’s degrees. BCECHS encourages its students to graduate with two associate's degrees.

Beaufort CCC wishes all the best to its early college high school students.
