Students Inducted Into Honor Society at Beaufort County Community College

Gamma Beta Phi, the honor society at Beaufort County Community College, inducted 19 new members into its organization on February 17. Members of the honor society achieve academic success, and they also take on community service projects.

In November, members volunteered at Sound River’s Oyster Roast fundraiser. Sound Rivers is a non-profit working to protect water quality in the watersheds of the Pamlico-Tar and Neuse Rivers. This semester, the group will raise funds through a raffle to support relief efforts in Western North Carolina. Last year, they raised $700 for the Beaufort-Hyde Partnership for Children and supported a fundraiser for Metropolitan AME Zion Church.

Members of Gamma Beta Phi must be presently enrolled at Beaufort CCC and committed to excellence in education, to good character and to service. They seek to live by the principles of honesty, service, industriousness, humility, justice, cooperation, responsibility, and charitableness. They must have completed 12 or more semester hours of college work and pay the one-time national membership fee of $80 along with local dues of $25 per year. Members cannot have their grades drop below a GPA of 3.2 and must have a GPA of 3.5 to join.

The new inductees were: Kennedy Arnold, Trevon Barrett-Little, Kaden Blake, Mariah Caudle, Zofia Cheeseman, Contessa Collins, Mary Cruz, Harlee Davis, Betty Gatlin, Parish Grover, Madison Haddock, Quentin Hatten, Karalise Mai, Tawaina Peele, Kimberly Ramirez Mendoza, Lily Sawyer, Yoselyn Solano Adriano, Hayley Spencer, and Alyssa Whitted.

Beaufort CCC is proud of these students’ academic rigor and service to their community.
