BCCC Community Garden
PRI Health Corps members will bring a farm to fork approach, building several community gardens for groups such as women Veterans, the legally blind, and school aged children in eastern North Carolina. BCCC is honored to have one such garden on our campus which is open to students, employees, and our surrounding community. The BCCC Community Garden is located behind Building 8. Food Insecurity
According to NCDHHS, in NC alone, food insecurity affects almost 11% of the population. That would translate to the entire combined populations of Raleigh, Greensboro, Durham and Winston-Salem. But food insecurity affects large and small communities alike.
There are resources available if you or someone you know is experiencing food insecurity; a few of which are listed below. Please note, these agencies may have eligibility requirements to be met.
Food Bank of the Albemarle - Serving Beaufort, Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Hertford, Hyde, Martin, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrrell and Washington Counties. The Salvation Army is a part of the Food Bank of the Albemarle network.
Eagle’s Wings Food Pantry – Serving Beaufort County. Eagle’s Wings is also a part of the Food Bank of the Albemarle network.
